Very good article Dan.
I already understood this approach with Bruce Lee a few weeks ago. That is why I wear the same jumpsuit he wears during his last movie "Game of Death" on one of our (Parkour Stuttgart) Community Meetings, named "Your City MY Playground" (group photo of the meeting: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Parkour-Stuttgart/104564315699?v=photos&ref=search#!/photo.php?pid=5435154&id=104564315699)
Bruce Lee's Motto is: “using no way as way, having no limitation as limitation” (More explanation here: http://www.bruceleefoundation.com/index.cfm?cdid=10407&pid=10250) and it goes well with Parkour :)
Best Regards and I look forward to meeting you soon...
rad read bro

Great post Dan!
A lot of people I met have a twisted picture of the freedom in pakour... it seems they think that it means "do as you please" with no criticism. Freedom is attractive, but in fact a lot heavier than just following the whistle of a master or coach. Like Bruce Lee we all have to have a really really high level of self-discipline and a critical view on our own training regimes.

How come every single article in this blog is so very inspiring. You guys must be a bunch of great people gathered in one small gym. Looking forward to meeting you sometime in future.
Andy, hope you don't mind me translating this article into Czech language and posting it on Czech parkour web.
Thanks, Venco
By all means Venco, if it helps please do use it.
And we train in a fairly large gym.. London! ;)

Martin Marines,
It's rare to see such an in depth understanding of Jeet Kune Do and Bruce Lee's approach to life even within the JKD Community.
I'm both surprised and impressed with your analysis and usage of Lee's methods.
In my case, as a Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do instructor, my purpose is two fold in that I am preserving Bruce Lee's original technical and philosophical methodology so that others might be inspired by it, yet I also act as a facilitator for that growth, freedom, and self actualization that you talked about.
Although the message is the focus, the history serves as a supporting foundation. This is something that many Jeet Kune Do practitioners forget when de-emphasizing the original style and structure of Bruce Lee's martial art.
Thank you for the post!
Hello PG, I was just wondering when are we going see another new article. It has been six months now and your articles have always been good source of fun and inspiration to my training. I'm sure there is a lot to share now when the summer is over. I just hope this blog won't end up forgotten by time under layers of dust.
Love from Prague, Venco "hipptyp".
Awesome
